What a joyful season it’s been here in Salinas! From tree lightings to community events, music, performances, and so much more, your spirit and even snow made every event shine a little brighter.

Thank you to everyone who organized, participated in, and showed up for our city’s holiday celebrations. Your energy, creativity, and community pride brought so much joy to our streets.

And a special thank you to all who gave back this season, whether through food and toy drives, volunteer hours, or simply looking out for a neighbor in need. Your generosity reflects the very best of Salinas.

We’re truly blessed to call Salinas home, and even more blessed to share it with neighbors like you. Here’s to a bright new year ahead, together!

Tonight I had the honor of leading a fireside chat at the Valley of the World Awards, held at the newly renamed One Main Street.

I sat down with Danny Bernstein, founder of Revisor Farms, who recently broke ground on new farmland right where Main St. meets Hwy 68. His work reminds us why Salinas is becoming the global hub for Ag Tech, by year’s end, we’ll welcome 10–12 new Ag Tech companies right here in our city.

On Thursday, I joined our @salinasfiredepartment and community members in honoring the lives lost on September 11, 2001. 🇺🇸

It was a moving ceremony that reminded us not only of the sacrifice of first responders and the resilience of our nation, but also of the importance of coming together in unity and service.

May we always carry forward the spirit of courage, compassion, and community that defined that day. We will never forget.

Monterey County has officially been designated as

Monterey County has officially been designated as a Blue Zones Community, the first in California!

This recognition is a testament to the dedication of so many individuals and organizations working to make our county a healthier, stronger place to live. I’m especially proud to see so many from the Salinas Valley honored for their leadership, including Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas, La Plaza Bakery, and Sun Street Centers/STEPS, along with outstanding community leaders across Monterey County.

Congratulations to all of our honorees for showing what it means to put wellness on the map. Together, we’re building a healthier future for Salinas and all of Monterey County.

“Together we are stronger, together we bring hope and together we will beat cancer.”

Those words captured the spirit of tonight’s Paint the Town Purple @relayforlifesalinas event in @salinascitycenter . Our community showed up with pride, resilience, and heart as we stood united in the fight against cancer. The performances, the energy, and the togetherness made this a night to remember.

Let’s keep that spirit alive! Please join us on September 20th, from 4–9pm, in downtown Salinas for an evening of connection and celebration.
